A person familiar with the situation tells The Associated Press that the deal is potentially worth about $36 million, with $17.7 million guaranteed. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the terms had not been released. Bushrod was drafted in the fourth round by New Orleans in 2007. He started on the Bears' 2009 championship team and made the Pro Bowl the past two seasons.
Bushrod's agent, Richard Rosa, says the two-year starter on New Orleans' offensive line has reached a two-year deal with New Orleans. He did not disclose financial terms.|||||||
The Saints acquired the 6-foot-5, 315-pound Bushrod in the fourth round of the 2007 draft out of Towson. He did not play a single offensive snap for his first two seasons, but after Jammal Brown was traded to Washington, he started in 2009 for the Saints' run to their first Super Bowl title and started every game last season.
Bushrod is returning to New Orleans, where the man known as "Big Neck" by Saints teammates could find stiff competition to retain his starting left tackle spot.|||||||
Bushrod's agent, Rich Rosa, said his client was set to sign a tender offer of about $1.7 million on Tuesday. "It's a great opportunity for him," Rosa said. "He played at a very high level last year and he's very happy, obviously, that he'll have a Super Bowl ring on his finger."

Bushrod, in his third season, was making his first NFL start because Jammal Brown has been sidelined for weeks by a sports hernia and hip injury. A 2007 fourth-round draft choice out of Towson, Bushrod had to be helped off the field, putting little weight on his right leg. He was replaced by Zach Strief.
