On Thursday, the Bengals (7-5) waived Faine, opening the way for Kyle Cook to return from an ankle injury suffered in the final preseason game.||||||| Faine played in the first eight games, starting seven, while Cook recovered from surgery on his right ankle.

Faine could miss Sunday's game at San Francisco because of a chest injury.||||||| Coach Sean Payton said Faine will be a "game-time decision." "There's no surgery, there's no procedure. It is what it is," Payton said Thursday. "It will take time to where he feels strong enough in that area." If Faine cannot play, Jonathan Goodwin is expected to fill in at center.
