Police say Ratliff had a blood-alcohol level twice the legal limit the night he was arrested after a car accident.|||||||
Grapevine police on Monday said Ratliff's blood-alcohol level was measured at 0.16 percent. Texas' drunken-driving standard is 0.08 percent. Ratliff was arrested last week after a late-night accident in Grapevine, about 20 miles northwest of Dallas. Ratliff's pickup truck sideswiped a semitrailer truck. Police say he later failed a field sobriety test.
Ratliff is unlikely to play again this season after undergoing sports hernia surgery.|||||||
Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Ratliff had the surgery Thursday in Philadelphia and would be out three to six weeks, meaning he would only have a chance to play if Dallas makes the playoffs. Ratliff has played in just six games. He missed the first four with a sprained ankle before a groin injury sidelined him last month.
The Dallas Cowboys have agreed to a five-year contract extension with Ratliff that will keep him with the team through the 2017 season.|||||||
Ratliff, a three-time Pro Bowler (2008-10), was originally drafted by the Cowboys in the seventh round (224th overall) in 2005 out of Auburn. He has started 63 of 82 career games and has 250 tackles, 25 sacks, 18 tackles for loss, 96 pressures, 13 pass breakups and five forced fumbles. Ratliff also has 12 fumble recoveries and blocked one field goal.
