The team announced McCourty signed the five-year extension Thursday, and The Tennessean reported the new deal was worth $43 million with $20 million in guarantees and bonuses. A sixth-round pick in 2009 out of Rutgers, McCourty has started 24 of 42 career games with 182 tackles, four interceptions, a sack, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovered. He set a career-high with 107 tackles last season and led the team with 13 passes defensed.

McCourty has been deactivated against the New Orleans Saints after suffering a concussion a week ago at Buffalo.|||||||
McCourty had been a game-time decision after not practicing all week. He warmed up on the field Sunday before the Titans deactivated him. Alterraun Verner will start in his spot opposite Cortland Finnegan.
McCourty continues to recover from surgery on his broken right forearm, an injury that's sidelined him since Week 3.|||||||
The second-year cornerback talked with reporters in the locker room. McCourty said the doctor only told him to get healthy and that he will be out until he is healthy.
