The Jets waived Hill on Tuesday.||||||| Hill was signed by the Jets last month after Santonio Holmes was lost for the season with a foot injury. He was released a few weeks later, but re-signed Nov. 6. He had two catches for 15 yards and a touchdown in three games with the Jets.

The New York Jets have released wide receiver Jason Hill and signed tight end Hayden Smith, a former rugby player, from the practice squad.||||||| Hill was signed three weeks ago to help make up for the loss of Santonio Holmes, out for the season with a foot injury. Hill had two catches for 15 yards and a touchdown in three games with the Jets.

The Broncos have signed free agent wide receiver Jason Hill.||||||| The sixth-year pro has played for Jacksonville and San Francisco, which selected him in the third round of the 2007 draft out of Washington State. He has 76 career catches for 1,028 yards and eight touchdowns in 50 career games, including 13 starts. He started 10 times last year and recorded a career-best 367 yards and three TDs on 25 catches for the Jaguars.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have been awarded Hill off waivers from the San Francisco 49ers.||||||| Hill, a third-round draft pick in 2007, has 40 career receptions for 413 yards and four touchdowns. He also has 29 special-teams tackles. He had a career-high 30 catches for 323 yards and two touchdowns along with 17 special-teams tackles in 2008. Hill was a three-year starter at Washington State in college.

Hill caught seven passes for 84 yards in the 49ers' 29-24 loss to Arizona on Monday.||||||| Hill was the favorite target for quarterback Shaun Hill, who was making his first start of the season. The two should have plenty of opportunities to hook up next week, as well. San Francisco hosts St. Louis on Sunday, and the Rams are 26th in the league in pass defense, allowing an average of 237.6 yards per game.
