The Jaguars (2-9) will pay the remaining $1.69 million of Babin's 2012 salary, essentially taking a low-risk look at someone who could significantly upgrade one of the league's worst pass rushes. Jacksonville has a league-low 13 sacks, a glaring weakness on a team filled with holes.

Babin had just 5.5 sacks after recording 18 last year. He signed a five-year, $28 million deal last summer after going to his first Pro Bowl with Tennessee following the 2010 season.
The Philadelphia Eagles have reached agreement on a five-year contract with Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Babin, who had a breakout season with Tennessee last year. The Eagles won't be able to officially announce an agreement with Babin until Friday, but his publicist Amanda Mitchell confirmed the deal to The Associated Press on Thursday.|||||||
Babin played for the Eagles in 2009. He signed with the Titans in free agency and had a career-best 12.5 sacks playing under defensive line coach Jim Washburn. He's now reunited with Washburn, who joined the Eagles in the same role during the offseason. A first-round pick by Houston in 2004, the 31-year-old Babin never had more than five sacks in a season until last year. He has 30 career sacks in seven seasons playing for five different teams.

Babin, a first-round draft pick in 2004 out of Western Michigan, has played for Houston, Seattle, Kansas City and Philadelphia. Last season, the 6-foot-3, 267-pound end played in 12 games and had 20 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks for the Eagles. He will help replace Kyle Vanden Bosch, who signed with Detroit on the first day of free agency, and Jevon Kearse, who was benched in October in the final year of his contract.
