Allen was claimed off waivers from Miami earlier this week, and coach Gary Kubiak expects Allen to help the team's beleaguered secondary - just not against Jacksonville.

Allen, the 16th overall pick in 2006, has struggled to shake the label of draft bust. He won a starting job in training camp this season but was replaced last week by Sean Smith. Allen started 19 games in his five seasons with Miami.

He led the Southeastern Conferenec with 123 tackles in 2004 to become the first non-linebacker in at least 35 years to lead that category. He worked out daily during his hold-out to prepare himself for preseason.
