The Chicago Bears have agreed to a one-year contract with Anderson, the latest move in a major overhaul at the position.|||||||
The deal announced Sunday comes two days after they signed D.J. Williams from Denver to replace Brian Urlacher. Anderson was released earlier this month. He figures to take over at strong side for Nick Roach, who signed with Oakland. The only returning starting linebacker for Chicago is perennial Pro Bowler Lance Briggs on the weak side.
The agent for Anderson says his client has been informed that he's been released by the team.|||||||
Anderson had three years left on a five-year, $22 million contract. The move represents only minimal salary cap savings for Carolina because they have to account for the remaining prorated portion of the $7 million signing bonus he received in 2011. Anderson has spent all six NFL seasons with the Panthers, starting 43 games over the past three years at strong side linebacker. He started 12 games last year and had 73 tackles but no sacks or interceptions.

Anderson seems like a safe play in IDP leagues.
