Patriots announce Burgess re-signing; release Stanback, Davis
The Patriots officially announced the re-signing of OLB-DE Derrick Burgess, which was widely reported last week, and released WR Isaiah Stanback and OLB Bruce Davis.

Stanback has been bothered by shoulder problems throughout his career so he's been injury-plagued.
Stanback tore his Achilles' tendon during drills in Saturday afternoon's practice, thus ending a hometown comeback bid this season by the former University of Washington quarterback.|||||||

The Seattle Seahawks have claimed wide receiver, kick returner and former Washington Huskies quarterback Isaiah Stanback off waivers from the New England Patriots.|||||||
Stanback caught two passes in 10 games and returned 13 kickoffs in two seasons with Dallas, which drafted him in the fourth round in 2007. The Cowboys cut him after training camp last season. New England signed him to its practice squad in September. He joined the active roster in November and played in six games, with two starts.
Stanback has had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee to repair a torn lateral meniscus. The Cowboys announced Stanback had the procedure Thursday. Further details were not released.|||||||
Stanback got hurt during Tuesday's workout, the first organized team activity of the offseason. He took the field Wednesday before the injury was revealed. Stanback last season spent time on injured reserve. In August he separated his left shoulder returning a kickoff in a preseason victory over Houston.
