Rudolph and Smith both left the game against Chicago last weekend with concussions, and it was unclear earlier this week if they would be available for the game against the Packers.

Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said Monday the team was told by the NFL that Smith won't be fined or suspended. The rookie was pulled away from a tussle with some Titans players by back judge Steve Freeman in the second quarter, when he pushed Freeman aside. Smith apologized after the game for what he called an "unacceptable" action and for even trying to return to the scrum in the first place. The Vikings won 30-7.
Smith was ejected from the game against Tennessee after pushing an official who was trying to break up an on-field altercation.|||||||
Several Titans and Vikings tangled in the second quarter after Minnesota's Antoine Winfield intercepted a pass from Matt Hasselbeck. The hard-nosed Smith was right in the middle of the confrontation, and an official stepped in to try to steer him out of the area. Smith kept jawing with the Titans players, and pushed the official to the side as he tried to get closer to the action. Rookie Robert Blanton replaced Smith at safety on the Vikings' next defensive series.
Smith has been fined $21,000 by the NFL for a hit on San Diego Chargers receiver Mike Willie on Aug. 24.|||||||
Smith was drafted out of Notre Dame to add some playmaking and a harder edge to the back end of the defense. The Vikings have been searching for an intimidating presence at that position for years, and Smith gained a reputation for being willing to get physical even against teammates in practice during training camp while competing for a starting job.
