Texans sign first-round CB Jackson
Houston has signed its first-round draft choice, CB Kareem Jackson, to a five-year contract, PFW's Texans correspondent, John McClain, is reporting on his Twitter account. Details of the deal weren't immediately available.
Reports: Texans agree with rookie RB Tate

The Texans needed a fullback after James Casey signed with Philadelphia after free agency opened. Jones has played his first nine NFL seasons with Jacksonville. The Jaguars drafted him in the second round in 2004. Jones helped Jacksonville running backs rush for 100 yards in a game 37 times.
The Jags have placed Jones on injured reserve and elevated defensive back Kennard Cox from the practice squad.|||||||
Jones sprained his right ankle last week against Miami. He started seven games this season, and had 23 yards rushing and 14 yards receiving.

Jones was the latest in a long list of players lost for the season. Receiver Jerry Porter (groin) could join him there.
The Jacksonville Jaguars retained one of their top free agents Wednesday when Jones re-signed with the team. Jones, who started 11 games last season after missing all of 2006 with a knee injury, was named the first alternate to the AFC Pro Bowl. Jacksonville led the conference in rushing, averaging 149.4 yards a game.|||||||
Jones has 856 yards rushing and nine touchdowns since the Jaguars drafted him in the second round in 2004. He also has 24 receptions for 178 yards and two scores. More important to the Jaguars, Jones has become one of their best blockers and helped create one of the NFL's top rushing attacks.
Jones will miss all of the 2006 season when he undergoes surgery to repair his torn ACL. The Jacksonville Jaguars running back started in 13 games last season. He rushed for 575 yards on 151 carries for four touchdowns. Derrick Wimbush and LaBrandon Toefield are expected to share duties to replace him.|||||||
