The New England Patriots have signed Warren, the third overall pick in the 2001 NFL draft.||||||| Coach Bill Belichick announced the move Saturday after this year's draft, adding a player who hasn't fulfilled his potential in four seasons with Cleveland, two with Denver and three with Oakland, which released him on March 11. Cleveland drafted Warren three picks before New England took Richard Seymour. The Patriots traded Seymour to the Raiders before last season.

Warren, obtained in a trade from Denver in the preseason, has sparked a pass rush that was nonexistent the first two weeks of the season. Terdell Sands, who was benched to make way for Warren earlier this year, will likely get the call against the Chargers if Warren can't go.
