The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed Hayes, giving the team a potential replacement for veteran Daryl Smith. It's the franchise's first free-agent signing in 2013.|||||||
Hayes, a sixth-round draft pick out of Florida State in 2008, spent four seasons with the Buccaneers before playing last year in Chicago. He played under current Jaguars coach Gus Bradley as a rookie.
The Chicago Bears have agreed on a one-year contract with Hayes, who spent his first four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.|||||||
Hayes started 42 games for the Bucs after being a sixth-round selection out of Florida State in 2008. He was a starter for 13 games last season, finishing third on the team with 86 tackles and also had an interception. Hayes also played on special teams.
Hayes has been cleared to practice after sustaining a concussion last week.|||||||

Hayes has been released on bond after being arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and trespassing during an incident at a nightclub. The third-year pro was jailed early Monday, hours after the Buccaneers returned home from a win at Washington.|||||||
Police say Hayes became aggressive while intervening in a dispute that led to two men the player knew being asked to leave the entrance to the Blue Martini Lounge. The linebacker himself was ejected after ignoring a directive to go back into the club. According to the police report, an officer used an electronic control device on Hayes when the linebacker returned to the lounge and became disruptive while a friend was looking for a credit card the athlete said he left.
The Buccaneers placed Hayes on injured reserve with a knee injury. The rookie, who was selected in the sixth round of this year's draft, had five tackles in nine games this season.|||||||
Tampa Bay singed Matt McCoy in Hayes' place. McCoy played three games for the Bucs before being released on Oct. 8.
