The Buffalo Bills officially placed Jackson on injured reserve Tuesday and promoted defensive tackle Jay Ross to the 53-man roster.||||||| Jackson won't require surgery after being diagnosed with a Grade 2 sprain to his MCL this week, but with the Bills at 5-8 and looking toward next season, the move became an obvious one. His injury leaves Buffalo with just two active running backs, C.J. Spiller and Tashard Choice. Gailey said fullback Corey McIntyre could fill the third spot if necessary,

Fred Jackson has been cleared to play at Indianapolis this weekend after passing a series of NFL-mandated concussion tests||||||| Jackson says he felt good before practice Wednesday, and coach Chan Gailey added that he expects the running back to play Sunday. Despite having Jackson back, Gailey said C.J. Spiller will remain the starter and get a majority of playing time. That's a switch in philosophy after the two had been splitting time before Jackson was hurt in a 37-31 loss at New England on Nov. 11.
