Griffen returned to practice on Friday after missing the day before. He said he wanted to be with the team for support and to honor his mother, Sabrina Scott, who'd been in town visiting him. Griffen said she was healthy but politely declined to discuss her death further.

Minnesota Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen has been released from a California jail where he's been held since his arrest for allegedly assaulting a police officer. Griffen was arrested Monday in Los Angeles for allegedly assaulting an officer after a traffic stop. Police say officers used a stun gun to subdue Griffen during a struggle after he tried to flee.|||||||
Griffen played for USC and was a fourth-round draft pick by the Vikings last year. He saw more playing time toward the end of his rookie season and finished with 11 tackles.
