A person familiar with the negotiations says Mathis' deal is worth $25.5 million with $7 million guaranteed. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because terms have not been announced.

Mathis was cut by the Carolina Panthers before the season after starting 15 games in three seasons. He is the nephew of former Dolphins defensive tackle Bob Baumhower.
Mathis is listed as probable for the Panthers' season-opening contest with the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday due to a shoulder injury. The guard is expected to start, but Will Montgomery may be used if the injury becomes a problem.|||||||
