Left tackle Eugene Monroe and linebacker Daryl Smith are back at practice for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Both players returned Saturday and are expected to play in Thursday night's preseason finale against Atlanta.|||||||
Monroe missed the past two exhibition games after sustaining a concussion in practice. Coach Mike Mularkey says Monroe passed his concussion test Friday and was cleared to practice. He was working with the starting unit Saturday. Guard Will Rackley also was back in a limited capacity after missing much of training camp with a high-ankle sprain.
Monroe left the practice field on a cart Wednesday after getting hit in the head during drills. Team doctors were checking him for a possible concussion, and coach Mike Mularkey said the results would determine whether Monroe plays in Friday night's preseason game at New Orleans.|||||||
Losing Monroe would be the latest setback for an injury plagued unit. Guard Will Rackley missed the preseason opener because of a high-ankle sprain, is still wearing a walking boot and will be sidelined at least another week. Backup guard Jason Spitz is out at least a month because of a foot injury, and reserve center is John Estes is likely out for the season because of a knee injury.

Defensive tackle C.J. Mosley stepped on Monroe's left ankle in practice Thursday, and Monroe was wearing a walking boot Friday. He sat out practice and was listed as questionable for the game. Monroe says the injury doesn't seem that bad and he expects to play against the Colts.
Monroe has ended a 12-day holdout by agreeing to a five-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars.|||||||
Monroe, a 6-foot-5, 320-pound left tackle taken No. 8 from Virginia, could rejoin his teammates Saturday. He probably won't play in Monday night's preseason opener at Miami. Monroe had been expected to start this season. But he fell behind three-time Pro Bowler Tra Thomas and Jordan Black after missing 22 workouts.
