The Denver Broncos are set to talk with free agent Freeney and John Abraham on Thursday, 48 hours after they submitted a new contract proposal to Elvis Dumervil.||||||| Freeney, 33, and Abraham, 34, are both older and less productive than Dumervil, 29, but might make financial sense for the Broncos, who had to cut Dumervil last week to avoid paying him $12 million in 2013.

The Indianapolis Colts said Friday they will not re-sign Freeney or oft-injured receiver Austin Collie.||||||| Both will become unrestricted free agents next month. Freeney, Indy's career sacks leader, turns 33 next week. His sacks totals declined for a third straight year in 2012, this time after moving from defensive end to outside linebacker. Team owner Jim Irsay said in a statement that few players had more impact on the Colts' success than Freeney, who Irsay calls an "artist" and a "joy to watch."

Pro Bowlers Charles Tillman and Freeney have left Sunday's game between the Indianapolis Colts and the Chicago Bears.||||||| Freeney, one of the few holdovers on the Colts' heavily remade roster, was listed as questionable to return after injuring an ankle in the first quarter. The linebacker was hurt on the Bears' first scoring drive when he was blocked low and appeared to roll his ankle. Freeney and Robert Mathis, Pro Bowl defensive ends who were among the league's most feared pass rushers, have moved to linebacker this season as the Colts shift to a 3-4 hybrid defense.

A financial adviser and her lover face wire fraud charges in Los Angeles for allegedly swindling $2.2 million from Indianapolis Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney. Eva Weinberg of Los Angeles and Michael Stern of Miami were arrested last week by FBI agents who believe they were trying to flee the U.S. Stern appeared in a Miami courtroom Wednesday and will be extradited to California.||||||| An FBI affidavit says about $2.2 million was wired from Freeney's account by Weinberg, his financial manager, to a company owned by Stern between June 2010 and last October unbeknownst to Freeney. Freeney is only identified in records by initials but Stern's lawyer Henry Bell confirms the lineman is the purported victim.
