Edwards started 14 games and posted a career-high six sacks last season with Carolina, third-most among NFL defensive tackles. He also had 52 tackles. The 31-year-old Edwards is expected to be a starter this season.

Edwards played the last two seasons with the Buffalo Bills after spending six years with the Baltimore Ravens. The 6-foot-3, 301-pound Edwards has played in 85 games with 45 starts during his NFL career.

He missed the entire 2008 season with a neck injury, but bounced back last year, with 56 tackles and two sacks in 18 games, including playoffs.
