Edwards started 14 games and posted a career-high six sacks last season with Carolina, third-most among NFL defensive tackles. He also had 52 tackles. The 31-year-old Edwards is expected to be a starter this season.
The Panthers have announced they've made a move at defensive tackle, signing free agent Dwan Edwards and waiving last year's third-round draft pick Terrell McClain. Terms of Edwards' deal were not immediately available.|||||||
Edwards played the last two seasons with the Buffalo Bills after spending six years with the Baltimore Ravens. The 6-foot-3, 301-pound Edwards has played in 85 games with 45 starts during his NFL career.
A person familiar with the move says the Buffalo Bills have released Edwards. The person confirmed Edwards' release on Friday, speaking on the condition of anonymity because the team hasn't made an announcement. He missed the entire 2008 season with a neck injury, but bounced back last year, with 56 tackles and two sacks in 18 games, including playoffs.
