PLAYER NEWS
The Kansas City Chiefs have reached a deal with Robinson.|||||||
Robinson has played in 131 games over nine NFL seasons with the Houston Texans and Atlanta Falcons. His career numbers include 580 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 17 interceptions and 87 pass breakups.
Robinson was released by the Falcons.|||||||
This is not a suprise move as it allowed the Falcons to save money in their quest for a younger roster. The 30-year-old Robinson signed with Atlanta in 2010 and became a steady figure in the secondary, known especially for his bruising hits. He had four interceptions over the past three seasons.
Atlanta's starting lineup includes defensive end John Abraham (ankle), safety William Moore (hamstring) and Robinson (concussion) in Sunday's divisional playoff game against Seattle.|||||||
Falcons backup safety Charles Mitchell (calf) also is active.
Robinson returned for Sunday's 30-28 victory over Seattle.|||||||
Robinson suffered a head injury in the first quarter of the regular-season finale and did not return.
Robinson, whose hit on Philadelphia's DeSean Jackson last season left both players with concussions, has drawn another unnecessary roughness penalty for a big hit on an Eagles receiver. He was fined $40,000 for the play.|||||||
Robinson drew the 15-yard penalty with 6:12 remaining in the third quarter after leading with his helmet on a hit to Jeremy Maclin in Sunday night's game. Robinson didn't appear to make a helmet-to-helmet hit but instead hit Maclin lower, perhaps hitting the receiver's chin. Maclin was slow to leave the field, but he returned to the game. Robinson was fined $50,000 for last year's hit, but the fine was later reduced to $25,000.
