The Browns have acquired Lewis from the Philadelphia Eagles in a trade for linebacker Emmanuel Acho.|||||||
Lewis played 24 games in two seasons with the Eagles, who selected him in the fifth round in 2011. He rushed for 171 yards on 36 carries and scored two touchdowns. The 5-foot-8, 195-pound Lewis also returned kickoffs for Philadelphia as a rookie and will likely be a candidate to take over those duties for Cleveland. Lewis averaged 21.6 yards on 31 kickoff returns in 2011.
Lewis was arrested in Albany over the weekend and charged with falsely reporting a fire and misdemeanor reckless endangerment.|||||||
The incident occurred when Lewis and his older brother were locked out of their hotel room. Lewis was released after his arraignment and his brother was being held in Albany County jail without bail. Lewis was a fifth-round pick of the Eagles in 2011. He was Philadelphia's primary kickoff return specialist last season as the Eagles finished 8-8.
