Branch is back at his Patriots locker where his nameplate never was removed after the two times the team released him this season. The wide receiver re-signed with New England after being cut and missing the past four games. He had been cut for the first time just before the season then was re-signed after two games.||||||| Branch said Thursday he had no intention of playing for another team and wants to retire as a Patriot. But he said he knew he would be back. The Patriots signed him to add depth after wide receiver. Donte' Stallworth suffered a high right ankle sprain in Monday night's 42-14 win over the Houston Texans.

The New England Patriots have re-signed Deion Branch for their battered corps of wide receivers. They signed him for the second time this season on Wednesday after Donte' Stallworth joined Julian Edelman on injured reserve. Stallworth hurt his ankle in Monday night's 42-14 win over the Houston Texans. Edelman suffered a foot injury in the previous game, a 23-16 victory over the Miami Dolphins.||||||| The Patriots first cut Branch on Aug. 31, re-signed him after their second game, then released him Nov. 17 after the ninth game. He has nine catches for 80 yards in seven games. They drafted him in the second round in 2002, traded him to Seattle on Sept. 11, 2006 and re-acquired him from the Seahawks on Oct. 12, 2010.

The New England Patriots have signed tight end Kellen Winslow and re-signed wide receiver Deion Branch. The announcement Wednesday came three days after tight end Aaron Hernandez was sidelined with a right ankle injury. The Patriots have not said how many games they expect him to miss.||||||| The Patriots released Branch, the MVP of Super Bowl XXXIX, on the final roster cutdown after he caught 51 passes last season.

Branch tweeted his goodbye to the New England fans amid reports that he has been cut by the team.||||||| The Most Valuable Player of the Patriots' 2005 Super Bowl victory said, "Truly thankful for all the support from everybody. I Love You guys (hashtag)LovePeaceandHappiness." Branch was reportedly among the cuts the team made Friday as it got down to the NFL limit of 53 for next week's opener.

Branch knows his best days are over. Now, he's waiting to find out where he fits into the team's deep wide receiver corps.||||||| He's competing for playing time with newcomers Brandon Lloyd, Jabar Gaffney and Donte' Stallworth and holdovers Wes Welker and Julian Edelman. Branch also might be fighting for a roster spot with New England. Branch sat out last Thursday night's preseason opener against New Orleans but has practiced steadily since then and could play Monday night against Philadelphia.
