Landry, who spent the last five years in Baltimore, is expected to sign a contract Saturday and would be eligible to practice when the new collective bargaining agreement is ratified. Landry accumulated 362 tackles, nine interceptions and five sacks with the Ravens. He missed most of the 2008 season with a neck injury. He likely will replace Don Carey in the starting lineup.
The Ravens placed Landry on injured reserve Tuesday, ending his season. He is still experiencing tingling sensations in his neck after suffered a spinal cord concussion against the Cleveland Browns in the third week of the season. In that game, the crown of Landry's helmet struck the knee of Browns running back Jamal Lewis.|||||||
Landry, a fifth-round draft pick in 2006, started all 16 games last year. He led Baltimore defensive backs with six tackles in the opener against Cincinnati on Sept. 7.
Landry was taken from the field on a cart Sunday after taking a knee to the helmet during the second quarter of a game against Cleveland. Landry was trying to tackle Jamal Lewis, whose knee hit Landry in the head. Landry lay motionless for several minutes before being taken from the field with the facemask removed from his helmet and his head immobilized. Landry never lost consciousness and had movement in all his extremities, Ravens orthopedist Leigh Ann Curl said.|||||||
