The two-time Pro Bowl selection was injured during the second quarter of Friday night's 30-28 preseason victory over New England when a teammate blocked a Patriots lineman into the back of Joseph's knee. Reserve Ted Larsen replaced Joseph at right guard against the Patriots, however coach Greg Schiano was not ready Saturday to declare the third-year pro will start the regular season opener.

The Tampa Tribune and St. Petersburg Times reported the third-year guard, the Bucs' first-round draft pick two seasons ago, underwent surgery for a broken foot. However, there was no confirmation from coach Jon Gruden or the team on nature or severity of the injury. "Joseph has hurt his foot. He's getting X-rays and examinations and all those things at this point in time, but I don't have anything concrete in terms of what the injury is,'' Gruden said.
Joseph will miss Sunday's opener against the Baltimore Ravens after spraining his right knee during practice. Coach Jon Gruden said an MRI exam Thursday revealed the injury is not as serious as the Bucs feared and that the first-round draft pick is week to week.|||||||
Joseph was the 23rd player selected in the draft and won the right guard job in training camp. He will be replaced by third-year pro Jeb Terry, who will make his first career start Sunday.
