The Titans placed Ball on injured reserve Friday.||||||| Ball had been dealing with concussion symptoms most of the preseason, and the seven-year veteran briefly considered retirement after a concussion suffered while playing against Cincinnati last November. He re-signed with the Titans in April as the team wanted some experience around a bunch of young defensive linemen.

The Tennessee Titans re-signed veteran defensive end Dave Ball on Friday. Terms of the deal were not released.||||||| Ball has been with the Titans since 2008, playing in 51 games, making 203 tackles and sacking opposing quarterbacks 15.5 times while being credited with pressuring quarterbacks 43 times. Ball was a fourth-round draft pick in 2004, entering the NFL out of UCLA. He spent time with the San Diego Chargers and the New York Jets before joining the Titans.

Ball says he briefly considered retirement after his latest concussion two weeks ago against Cincinnati. Ball returned to practice Friday, but won't play against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday because of his third concussion the past two seasons. He played only 11 games last year when his season ended due to a concussion.||||||| He says he thought of retiring but isn't at that point yet. Ball says it would take a couple more hard knocks to do that. Ball consulted with doctors, including one at Vanderbilt, who convinced him that he would be fine to return. Both he and the Titans expect him to play Nov. 27 against Tampa Bay.

Ball was placed on IR due to a hip injury and the symptoms from a concussion.||||||| He played in 11 games and had 30 tackles and seven sacks this season.

Ball was given a $5,000 fine for roughing the passer with a hit to the head or neck area in Monday's game at Jacksonville.||||||| Ball has a career-high 5.0 sacks through six games so fantasy owners have to be concerned about whether the fine will make the veteran pass rusher less aggressive in the future.
