Sharper will miss at least the first six games of the season.||||||| The Saints announced Saturday that they have decided to keep Sharper on the physically-unable-to-perform list, which bars him from joining the active roster before Week 7 of the season. He is recovering from microfracture surgery on his left knee.

Sharper says his goal remains to be ready to play against the Minnesota Vikings in the Sept. 9 regular season opener, even though he hasn't practiced yet this preseason.||||||| Head coach Sean Payton says he's not sure when Sharper will return to practice, but says he won't travel to Tennessee for Thursday's preseason finale. Sharper has been on the physically-unable-to-perform, or PUP, list throughout preseason because of offseason microfracture surgery on his left knee.

Sharper is returning to the New Orleans Saints for at least one more year. His agent, Joel Segal, says Sharper has agreed to the deal.||||||| Sharper, an All-Pro safety, helped the Saints win their first Super Bowl last season.

Sharper says he had minor arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, but is feeling good and planning to play somewhere next season.||||||| Sharper sat out two regular-season games last season and missed periodic practices because of knee swelling. Still, he tied for the league lead with nine interceptions, returning three for scores, to help the Saints win their first Super Bowl. Sharper says he's hoping to return to New Orleans, but is keeping his options open.
