Bowers was awaiting arraignment Monday on charges of criminal possession of a weapon after he was arrested at a New York airport when police found a loaded handgun in his luggage.||||||| Bowers was arrested at LaGuardia Airport as he was about to board a US Airways flight to Raleigh, N.C. Authorities say the loaded .40-caliber weapon was found during a search of his carry-on bag.

Bowers practiced for the first time this season on Wednesday, opening a three-week window in which the Buccaneers will be able to evaluate the second-year pro and determine if he'll be able to return from a torn right Achilles tendon that's sidelined him since May.||||||| If Bowers isn't activated by Nov. 7 to the 53-man roster, he has to be placed on injured reserve and sit out the remainder of the season.The former Clemson star led the nation in sacks two years ago, and the Bucs selected him and Adrian Clayborn in the first two rounds of the 2011 NFL draft in hopes of bolstering one of the league's weakest pass rushes.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers put Bowers on the reserve/physically unable to perform list Monday, when the roster was trimmed to the 75-man limit for the final preseason game.||||||| Bowers tore his right Achilles tendon during an offseason workout in May and has not participated in training camp. Both moves were expected.

Bowers has torn his right Achilles tendon during an offseason workout and will undergo surgery The second-year pro out of Clemson was a second-round pick in the 2011 draft. He started six of his 16 games as a rookie, finishing with 25 tackles.||||||| Bowers was injured at the team's practice facility on Thursday.
