The Detroit Lions have put Williams on injured reserve, ending his season because of an injured right knee.||||||| Williams was inactive for a sixth game Sunday at Green Bay. He started in five of seven games this season and made nine tackles. The nine-year veteran had two sacks in each of the last three seasons with Detroit after playing for Cleveland and Green Bay.

The Lions acquired defensive tackle Corey Williams from the Cleveland Browns in a move that also involved a pair of late-round draft picks.||||||| Williams made 18 starts in two seasons for Cleveland, but wasn't happy in coach Eric Mangini's 3-4 defensive system last season.

Williams left Sunday's game against Washington with a shoulder injury, but he returned in the second half, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported.||||||| Williams has dealt with a shoulder issue all season, the Plain Dealer reported, but he felt well enough to play through it and should be in uniform for Sunday's game at Jacksonville.

The Green Bay Packers designated Williams as their franchise player Wednesday, preventing him from becoming an unrestricted free agent.||||||| Williams played in all 16 games in 2007, including nine starts. He set career highs with 51 tackles and 32 solo stops and tied his career high with seven sacks.
