Kelsay plans to retire after 10 seasons in Buffalo. Kelsay informed general manager Buddy Nix of his decision Wednesday, the team announced.||||||| The decision came as a slight surprise. Earlier this month, Kelsay indicated he was preparing to play next season after Bills doctors had cleared him for practice. Kelsay finished last season on injured reserve after tearing a ligament in his neck.

Kelsay was placed on IR with a neck injury.||||||| Kelsay, a 10-year veteran, missed three of the past four games after partially tearing a ligament in his neck in practice last month. After missing two games, he aggravated the injury in a 20-13 loss at Indianapolis two weeks ago.

Kelsay says he's ready to resume practicing less than two weeks since tearing a ligament in his neck.||||||| In revealing the nature of the injury for the first time, Kelsay says he's been assured by team doctors that he doesn't risk further damage. The 10-year veteran plans to test his neck while taking part in individual drills on Monday. If all goes well, he expects to practice Wednesday and be ready for Sunday, when the Bills (4-6) play at Indianapolis (6-4).

Kelsay has hurt his neck in practice, leaving his status uncertain for this weekend's game at New England.||||||| Coach Chan Gailey provided few details Thursday except to say Kelsay was undergoing tests, and he'd know more on Friday. The 10th-year veteran was escorted off the field by a team trainer shortly after the start of practice.
