The Seahawks announced the deal Tuesday afternoon, although terms were not released. Clemons' agent, Donal Henderson, first confirmed the sides had agreed to a new contract on Monday night. Clemons' new deal erases the question of whether the defensive end would hold out from the start of training camp after he skipped Seattle's mandatory minicamp in June. Clemons has recorded 11 sacks in each of the last two seasons.

Clemons has been Seattle's top pass rusher the past two seasons, recording 11 sacks in both 2010 and 2011. But he was entering the final year of his contract and showed his displeasure with the situation by not participating in some offseason team activities and not attending Seattle's mandatory minicamp in mid-June.
The Seattle Seahawks have traded pass-rushing defensive end Darryl Tapp to Philadelphia for Clemons and the Eagles' fourth-round choice in next month's draft.|||||||
Clemons played two seasons with Philadelphia after posting a career-high eight sacks in 2007, his only season with Oakland.
