Woodson's representative said the veteran defensive back's visit with the Niners on Wednesday went well and they were just waiting to hear back from the team.||||||| Agent Carl Poston said in a phone interview that Woodson spent all day Wednesday in sessions with the 49ers and was happy with the time he spent around the organization. He left the Bay Area early Thursday, Poston said.

Woodson, released by Green Bay on Feb. 15 with two years remaining on his contract, has one important thing in common with 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh: They're former Michigan stars.

The Green Bay Packers have informed Woodson he will be released with two years left on his contract.||||||| NFL.com first reported the move on Friday and it was confirmed by The Associated Press with Carl Poston, Woodson's agent. The team has not commented. Poston says Woodson is motivated to continue his career with a Super Bowl contender. Woodson signed a five-year deal before the 2010 season that was worth as much as $55 million. He missed nine games during the 2012 regular season because of a broken right collarbone and played in two postseason games with Green Bay.
