Johnson will receive a $30 million signing bonus. The team confirmed the deal Tuesday night and Johnson said he plans to sign the deal on Friday. Johnson said he was "blown away" by Carolina's offer and the money persuaded him to choose Carolina over Atlanta and Denver, who also expressed interest.

Johnson is the third of eight draft picks to come to terms. The defensive end had 73 tackles and 14.5 sacks in three years at Georgia. He has 9.5 sacks last season and was a second-team all-Southeastern Conference pick. Johnson, who left school after his junior season, is expected to contend for significant playing time next season after the Panthers released defensive end Al Wallace in a salary cap move.
