Grant was brought in when the Bears terminated Mark Anderson's contract, but he was inactive against Carolina and Seattle before being let go on Tuesday.
The Bears on Tuesday signed Grant, who was cut by the Saints in March and released last month by the Miami Dolphins before playing two games with Omaha in the United States Football League.|||||||
Grant, who signed a one-year deal, started 16 games for the Saints last season before an arm injury forced him to miss the playoffs. Grant was originally selected by the Saints in the first round in 2002. He has 47 sacks in 118 career games, including 106 starts.

The Saints said that Grant, who anchored the left side of the Saints line, has a triceps injury that will end the season for the eight-year veteran. Grant had surgery to repair the torn muscle, the Saints said on Tuesday. Grant, one of the few starters the Saints did not rest during the final game of the season, was hurt in New Orleans' 23-10 loss to the Carolina Panthers. He missed the last eight games of last season with a similar injury.
The NFL has decided against enforcing four-game suspensions of Grant and Will Smith at this time, opening the way for the New Orleans Saints' starting defensive ends to play this week and possibly the whole 2009 season.|||||||
