The San Diego Chargers have signed former Buffalo Bills guard Chad Rinehart to a one-year, $1.75 million contract.|||||||
Rinehart is being reunited with his former position coaches in Buffalo, Joe D'Alessandris and Andrew Dees. Rinehart was limited to seven games and two starts at right guard in 2012 due to an ankle injury that landed him on injured reserve on Nov. 2. Rinehart's agent, Leo Goeas, was a Chargers tackle from 1990-92.

Rinehart had 12 starts in 16 games last year, splitting time between right and left guard in his first full season with Buffalo. He's a fourth-year player, who spent his first two seasons with Washington.

Campus police spokesman Dave Zariffs says officers responded to a door alarm at a pizzeria in Cedar Falls on Jan. 18 and found Rinehart pulling on a locked door. A police report says Rinehart, who played at Northern Iowa from 2004-07, appeared to be intoxicated. Rinehart made four starts for the Redskins last season.

Rinehart was taken to the Black Hawk County jail and released by court order. He made four starts for the Redskins last season before breaking his right leg.
