Benson will remain on injured reserve for the rest of the season after having surgery on his foot.||||||| Benson was placed on injured reserve but designated to return on Oct. 10 after spraining his left foot. He was eligible to resume practice, and could have played as early as Dec. 9 against Detroit. But he never did practice, and said last week he was considering surgery. Benson finishes the year with 248 yards rushing on 71 carries.

He was Chicago's top draft pick in 2005.

Benson has visited the Green Bay Packers, who may be looking to boost their depth at running back.||||||| Benson is a free agent after four seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. He had 273 carries for 1,067 yards and six touchdowns rushing last season and has surpassed the 1,000-yard rushing mark in each of the past three seasons. The Packers did not re-sign veteran free agent Ryan Grant in the offseason, leaving James Starks as the most experienced member of a young backfield.
