The Arizona Cardinals have acquired quarterback Carson Palmer from the Oakland Raiders. The Cardinals gave up a conditional 2014 draft pick and swapped one of their sixth-round picks this year for Oakland's seventh-round selection.|||||||
Palmer, who agreed to rework his contract with the Cardinals, is expected to move into the starting quarterback role for new Arizona coach Bruce Arians.
Palmer suffered cracked ribs and a bruised lung after a hard hit by Carolina linebacker Greg Hardy and will not play in the team's final game.|||||||
Palmer was hit in the back by Hardy late in the first quarter while rolling out to throw. Hardy appeared to lead with his helmet and drew an unnecessary roughness penalty on the play. Raiders coach Dennis Allen said he is undecided whether to start Matt Leinart or Terrelle Pryor in place of Palmer.
Palmer topped 300 yards for the third straight game and had two touchdowns Sunday, but he also had one interception returned for a score and threw another in the end zone during a 38-17 loss to New Orleans.|||||||
Palmer has 1,094 yards and eight TDs in his three games this month but has also been intercepted six times. He has 17 touchdowns and 11 interceptions this season.

Palmer has been intercepted nine times in as many games this season, but continues to be a decent fantasy play if only because the Raiders are one of the NFL's most pass-happy teams. Palmer has attempted 45-plus passes in five contests this season.
Palmer threw for 414 yards and had three of his four touchdowns in the fourth quarter as Oakland lost 42-32 to Tampa Bay on Sunday. Palmer, though, also had three INTs.|||||||
