Rogers says he re-signed with the San Francisco 49ers this month on a $31.3 million, four-year contract because he appreciates the team's effort to keep the NFC West champions' talented defense intact for another run at a Super Bowl this year.||||||| Rogers, who shared the team lead with six interceptions, insists he knew in Week 4 or 5 last season that he wanted to return on a long-term deal - and now he hopes to use the momentum gained from his big season to carry him in 2012. With Rogers back, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has all 11 starters returning on a unit that ranked No. 1 in the NFL in stopping the run.

The San Francisco 49ers have signed free agent cornerback Carlos Rogers and safety Madieu Williams to one-year contracts.||||||| Rogers spent the past six seasons in Washington and had 43 tackles and two interceptions in 2010. The ninth player taken overall in the 2005 draft, the 30-year-old Rogers is likely to replace Nate Clements, who was released by the 49ers in a cost-cutting move last week.

The Washington Redskins placed cornerback Carlos Rogers on injured reserve Tuesday and promoted cornerback John Eubanks from the practice squad.||||||| Rogers tore two ligaments in his right knee in the first quarter of Sunday's loss to the New England Patriots. He will have reconstructive surgery later this month. Washington has promoted cornerback John Eubanks from the practice squad.

Rogers is hoping to do better than his paltry total of one interception last season. He displayed hands of stone on several other chances.||||||| "I could have had 10 more myself, just by catching the ball," Rogers said. "It was just concentration. It's not thinking about taking the ball and scoring, just catching the ball first and running." It's unlikely that Rogers will play better, however, in 2007.
