The Cardinals had played the "non-exclusive" franchise tag on Campbell while continuing to negotiate a long-term contract. Removal of that tag should clear the way for the Cardinals to add a player or two to their roster under the salary cap.

The 6-foot-8, 300-pound lineman had 51 solo tackles and 73 overall tackles last season. He also had eight sacks, two forced fumbles, 11 passes defensed, one fumble recovery, his first interception, and blocked three field goals.

The Cardinals can continue to negotiate a long-term deal with the 6-foot-8, 300-pound player through July 16. If another team signs him to an offer sheet, Arizona has the right to match it or receive two first-round draft picks as compensation.
