Johnson has gotten off to a quick start in his first season with San Francisco, catching 10 passes for 151 yards and a touchdown in his first three games - two starts. If he can't play, rookie receiver Josh Morgan out of Virginia Tech could get some more opportunities.

Johnson spent his first five NFL seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, catching 210 passes for 2,675 yards and nine touchdowns. He was the club's third receiver for much of that time behind Pro Bowl selections Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin, but could be a starter in San Francisco.

Fitzgerald insisted that he would play in the game, but the injury appears to be a problem. Johnson now has a chance to show he is capable of performing. He has 376 receiving yards on 32 catches in 11 games -- four starts.
Johnson had a career-high 87 receiving yards in Sunday's 22-9 loss to Oakland. He had a season-long 58-yard reception as one of his three catches on the day.|||||||
