He is the franchise leader with 9,785 total yards from scrimmage, ranks second in yards rushing (5,995), and third in receptions (426) and total touchdowns (68).

Westbrook finally got an opportunity to show he can still do it. Westbrook rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown in place of the injured Frank Gore and the 49ers sent punchless Arizona to its sixth straight loss, 27-6 Monday night in a shower of boos from the Cardinals home crowd.||||||| Westbrook had 9 yards on five carries all season. He ran 23 times in his 21st career 100-yard game, but first since Dec. 7, 2008, for Philadelphia against the New York Giants. "For me it meant a lot to have an opportunity to go out there and play and have an opportunity to have success," Westbrook said. Fantasy owners should use Westbrook Sunday against the Packers since Gore is out.

The 49ers have signed Westbrook to a one-year deal, giving the running back the second chance he's been seeking.||||||| Westbrook has been looking to find a job, visiting several teams in recent months. He was released by the Eagles in February after an injury-filled 2009 season. The Niners had a need after Glen Coffee, starter Frank Gore's backup, abruptly announced his retirement from the NFL on Friday. Westbrook led the NFL with 2,104 yards from scrimmage in 2007, but missed eight games last season with a pair of concussions and an ankle injury while scoring only two touchdowns.

Westbrook could become the fourth big-name veteran in a crowded Washington Redskins running back competition.||||||| The longtime Philadelphia Eagles standout visited the Redskins on Wednesday. General manager Bruce Allen called it "a good meeting" and that he will "probably have some meetings down the road" with the 30-year-old back. The Redskins already have plenty of experienced star power at the position. In addition to 28-year-old incumbent Clinton Portis, they've added 30-year-old Larry Johnson and 29-year-old Willie Parker this offseason.
