Grant signs tender; 49ers re-sign Swain
The 49ers announced Tuesday that LB Larry Grant signed his restricted free-agent tender and that the team re-signed WR Brett Swain.

The 27-year-old Swain was drafted by Green Bay in 2008, taken in the seventh-round out of San Diego State. He caught six passes with Green Bay in the 2010 season and another two for San Francisco in 2011, but was among the 49ers' final cuts before the start of last season.

Rep 1 Sports tweeted the news Tuesday, when San Francisco worked out potential replacements for the injured Joshua Morgan. The 26-year-old Swain was cut in late August by Green Bay. He had three tackles on special teams in the Packers' Super Bowl win over Pittsburgh. He has six career receptions for 72 yards, all last year. He missed much of 2009 with a knee injury.
Swain caught 6 passes for 130 yards in Thursday's 17-13 loss to the Chiefs.|||||||
Swain finished the preseason with eight catches for 164 yards.
Swain, a fifth-string receiver and special teams standout, will have season-ending knee surgery after an injury Sunday.|||||||
