The New England Patriots have added quarterback Brett Ratliff to their practice squad.|||||||
Ratliff was released from the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad on Sept. 27 after spending time with the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns. The Jets signed him in May 2007 as a rookie free agent out of Utah. He was on their practice squad that entire season and their third quarterback in 2008. He was Cleveland's third quarterback for most of the 2009 season before being waived on Sept. 4.
Ratliff was traded to the Browns, along with defensive end Kenyon Coleman, safety Abram Elam and two draft picks, in a deal that allowed the New York Jets to move up in the draft to select USC quarterback Mark Sanchez.|||||||
Ratliff isn't likely to get on the field anytime soon, particularly with quarterbacks Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn around.
