Siler is starting for the Kansas City Chiefs in Sunday's game against the Panthers in place of Jovan Belcher, the linebacker who was involved in Saturday's murder-suicide in Kansas City.||||||| Siler is making his 13th start in five NFL seasons and his first since Jan. 2, 2011, when he was a member of the San Diego Chargers.

Siler was placed on injured reserve after tearing his Achilles tendon at practice Tuesday.||||||| Siler was signed last month after spending the previous four seasons with San Diego.

The Chiefs have signed Siler to help shore up the middle of their defense. The Chiefs announced the deal Monday. Terms were not disclosed.||||||| Siler spent the past four seasons with the AFC West-rival San Diego Chargers, where he played 63 games and made 13 starts during the regular season and playoffs. The 6-foot-2, 239-pound Siler was a seventh-round draft pick in 2007 after helping the Florida Gators win the national title. Siler is considered a run-stuffing linebacker and is expected to pair with Derrick Johnson on the inside.
