The Browns placed Watson on injured reserve, ending his season with three games left. Watson suffered his third concussion since July last week against the Steelers.|||||||
Watson, who was Cleveland's leading receiver last season and had 37 catches this year, visited a specialist on head injuries earlier this week. "He's disappointed," said coach Pat Shurmur, who has spoken with Watson. "But it's the right course of action right now. He wishes he could still be with us but we'll make this move now and hopefully get him back next year." Shurmur said Watson did not discuss the possibility of retiring with him.
Watson is active for Sunday's game against the 49ers.|||||||

New coach Pat Shurmur said Saturday that Watson apparently took a knee to the back of his helmet during the team's first practice. Watson slipped to the ground on the turf and was hit. He went to the sidelines, then slowly walked to the locker room, accompanied by trainers.
