Kansas City had placed a second-round tender on Richardson, who started 16 games in a breakthrough year for the Chiefs last season. He filled in at right tackle after Ryan O'Callaghan hurt his groin in the preseason and also started once at left tackle in place of an injured Branden Albert.
The Kansas City Chiefs have promoted Richardson from the practice squad to the 53-man roster and released linebacker Justin Rogers.|||||||
Richardson played six games for the Chiefs last season and was added to the practice squad after being waived out of training camp. He will provide depth against Washington on Sunday with starting left tackle Branden Albert out with an ankle injury.

The Chiefs selected Richardson with the first of two sixth-round picks in this year's NFL draft. Terms of the deal were not released. Richardson, a 6-foot-6, 319-pound lineman, played in 49 games at Clemson, including 45 starts in four years. He earned first-team All-ACC honors the last two seasons.
