The Indianapolis Colts said Friday they will not re-sign former league sacks champion Dwight Freeney or the oft-injured Collie.|||||||
Both will become unrestricted free agents next month. Collie just couldn't stay healthy. He wound up on season-ending injured reserve in September with a ruptured patellar tendon in his right knee and there were continual concerns about a series of concussions he had.

Collie was injured during the second half of the 22-17 loss to Jacksonville after catching a short pass over the middle. Initially, the fear was that Collie may have sustained another concussion. He has been diagnosed with three concussions over the past 22 1/2 months and left another game during that span with what team officials described as "concussion-like symptoms."

Collie was injured as he caught Andrew Luck's pass over the middle for a 6-yard again. He appeared to get hit in the head, raising immediate fears of yet another concussion. The crowd gasped when Collie stayed on the ground.

Collie sustained two concussions in 2010, including one in which he was on the Philadelphia turf for 10 minutes before being taken off on a stretcher. It will likely be a game-time decision on his status.
