The New England Patriots have released receiver Brandon Lloyd and re-signed defensive backs Aqib Talib, Kyle Arrington and Adrian Wilson.||||||| Talib was acquired by New England in a trade with Tampa Bay on Nov. 1 for a 2013 fourth-round draft pick. He started in five of six games for New England after the trade and had 19 tackles and an interception that he returned 59 yards for a touchdown.

Talib says he just wants to get up to speed for his first game with the New England Patriots. The cornerback obtained from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to help the Patriots shaky secondary is eligible to play Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts after completing a four-game suspension for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances.||||||| Talib said on Thursday he did his best to stay in shape and is just trying to learn the system. When asked if he has been mischaracterized for off-field problems, he said that what happened in the past is in the past. He was first suspended for the 2010 season opener for violating the league's personal-conduct policy following his altercation with a St. Petersburg cab driver during training camp in August 2009.

According to the Buccaneers' website, the Buccaneers sent CB Aqib Talib to New England along with an extra seventh-round pick and got a 2013 fourth-round pick back.||||||| Talib, who was in his fifth season in Tampa Bay, was due to become an unrestricted free agent in 2013.

Talib will miss the upcoming game against Buffalo (3-5) on Sunday while serving the final game of a four-game suspension he received for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances.||||||| He said at the time of the suspension that he took an Adderall pill without a prescription "around the beginning of training camp."
