Smith was a third-round pick by Pittsburgh out of Syracuse in 2006, and he has played in 63 games with the Steelers, St. Louis, Jacksonville and Green Bay. The 6-foot, 200-pound Smith has seven interceptions with 19 starts. He played in 16 games with Pittsburgh in 2007 with 10 starts that season. Smith played for Jacksonville and Green Bay last season before being placed on injured reserve.

The person, who requested anonymity because the deal has not been announced, said the Jaguars will receive a conditional seventh-round draft pick in exchange for Smith. The deal was reported by ESPN earlier Sunday night. The Packers are desperate for safety help after injuries to Atari Bigby and Morgan Burnett. The Packers signed Smith as a free agent in 2009 but cut him before the start of the season.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are without Smith for a second consecutive game, putting second-year player Courntey Greene in the starting lineup against Philadelphia.|||||||
