Once free agency began Tuesday, the Titans agreed to terms with Levitre and San Francisco tight end Delanie Walker, a person familiar with the situation said. The person spoke to The Associated Press Tuesday on condition of anonymity because the deals both are pending the players passing physicals.|||||||
Levitre will help plug a big hole on the Titans' offensive line after five-time All-Pro left guard Steve Hutchinson announced his retirement earlier Tuesday. The Titans finished last season with four offensive linemen on injured reserve, and improving the line to help protect Jake Locker in his third season was a top priority. The 6-foot-2, 305-pound Levitre has started all 64 games in his four seasons with Buffalo.

Levitre missed practice on Wednesday, but returned Thursday after hurting his neck in Buffalo's loss to the Packers. The second-year pro practiced fully Friday, wearing a protective collar on the top of his shoulder pads.
Levitre is close to agreeing to a contract and could report to training camp as early as Sunday afternoon.|||||||
The offensive guard's agent Leo Goeas told The Associated Press that "we're just about there," noting that the two sides are going over the final language of the deal. The 51st overall pick out of Oregon State, Levitre made 39 starts and was first-team All-Pac 10 last year. The Bills, who opened training camp Saturday, are counting on Levitre, who is being given an opportunity to start at left guard this season.
